How to set up your Samsung Smart TV?

In our last FAQ you found the four awesome things you can do with Samsung Smart TV. If you are now wanting to own a Samsung Smart TV here is how you can set up and install it in your living room, terrace or your place of choice. After getting Samsung Smart you first turn on your TV, you’ll need to pair your remote and select your desired so navigate through the initial setup without any hiccups.

When you turn on the TV for the first time, the Samsung Smart Remote pairs to the TV automatically. However, if the remote doesn’t pair, point it at the remote control sensor on the front of the TV, and then press and hold the Back and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously.

Remember that the images, buttons, and functions of the Samsung Smart Remote may differ by model. Refer to your user manual for specific instructions.

Your new TV lets you choose a preferred language right from the initial setup. So if you want to, you can now have your TV’s settings in English Spanish or French.

From the initial setup, use the Up and Down buttons on the remote’s directional pad to navigate to your desired language. Then, select your desired language.

If your TV came with a One Connect Box, make sure you connect your One Connect Box before powering on the TV.

After selecting the language on your TV, you will be prompted to set up your TV with your phone via the SmartThings app. Remember this feature is not available on all models.

First, make sure your phone and TV are signed into the same wireless network. Open the SmartThings app on your phone. Next, tap ADD NOW on your phone and enter the PIN displayed on your TV.

Tap DONE and wait until your TV registers your Samsung account. When it’s done, select Next, confirm your ZIP Code, and then select Next again. Finally, select Next, select a service provider option, and select Next one more time.

Connect to the internet

Now its time to connect TV to the internet. But before you proceed remember if you do not consent to the Smart Hub Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, you will not be able to use apps and some of the Smart Features on your smart TV.

To use apps, stream videos, or use other services, your TV needs to have an internet connection, whether it’s wireless or wired.

To select a wireless network for your smart TV, select Wireless and then select the name of your wireless network. If your network is secured, enter the password and then select Done. Your TV will attempt to connect to your network and access the Samsung servers. After the wireless connection is established, select OK. Then, review the Smart Hub Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, select I Agree to all, and then select OK.

 You can also connect to a wired network if you prefer. Connect an ethernet cable to your One Connect Box or the back of your TV, and then select Wired. Your TV will attempt to connect to your network. When the connection is complete, your TV will access the Samsung servers; select OK.

Review the Smart Hub Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and then select I Agree to all. Next, select OK.

Now sign in to your Samsung Account. A Samsung account is required to use certain services or apps on your TV. For example, if you want to rent or purchase movies or shows on your TV, you’ll need your Samsung account. 

If you do not wish to create or sign into your Samsung account, select the arrow in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to skip this section.

To sign into your Samsung account manually, select Sign In, and then select the ID Field. Enter your Samsung account email address, and then select Next. Select the Password field, enter your Samsung account password, and then select Done. Finally, select Sign In and then select Done.

 Create an account

No account, no problem. To create a Samsung account, select Create Account, and then select Yes. Next, select Agree to agree to the Samsung account Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Select the ID field, enter your Email address, and then select Next. And then, select the Password field, enter a desired password, and then select Done. Select Next, and select the First Name field. Enter your first name an then select Next. Do the same thing for your last name.

From there, select the Date of Birth field, and use the directional pad on your Samsung Smart Remote to select your date of birth. Finally, select the checkbox, select Next and then select Done. If desired, you can create an account with a Facebook or PayPal account.

Before you can watch your shows, you have to connect your TV to a cable box.

Connect an HDMI cable into the HDMI Out port of your Cablebox receiver, and then connect the other end to the In port of the One Connect Box or an HDMI port on the TV.

Once they’re connected, you can have the cable box scan for any avaiable channels that come with your cable service.

Scan for channels

Scanning for available channels only takes a few minutes. You’ll find new programs to watch in no time at all.

Using your remote, navigate to and select Settings. Select Broadcasting, and then select Auto Program. Select Start to begin Auto Program, and then select either Both, Air, or Cable to choose how you will get your broadcast signal. Your TV will begin to scan for channels; after it’s done, select Close to finish.

Set up your device and control them with the Universal Remote

Note every device has a specific connection port. Betterread the user manual of the device you want to connect to ensure proper connection.

Besides your cable box, there’s an entire array of devices that you can connect to your TV.  You can pair your Blu-ray player, game console, speaker system, and even a laptop.

Some Samsung TVs even come with a One Connect box as said above that makes organizing and controlling different devices even easier.

So once you have everything all set up, you won’t have to worry about using multiple remotes. Because Samsung’s Universal Remote lets you control compatible devices! They just need to be connected to the TV through an HDMI cable.

One of the best parts of having a smart TV is getting access to all of its apps. You can download your favorite video streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, or Vudu. You also have access to music streaming apps like Spotify and Pandora.

From the TV’s Home screen, navigate to and select APPS, and then select the Search icon in the top-right corner. Next, enter the app you want to download and select it. You will see detailed information about the app. From here, select Install.

And just so you know, access to new apps will be occasionally added to your smart TV through software updates.

Only apps available in the App store can be installed on the smart TV.

Once you’ve downloaded the apps you want, it’s time to enjoy them. There are two ways you can open an app.

Press the Home button to open up the TV’s Home screen menu. If the app is listed on the Home menu, use the remote’s directional pad to navigate to it and open it.

If the app isn’t listed on the Home menu, use the directional pad to navigate to and select APPS. From here, you can select the app you want.

You can also remove apps you no longer want and free up memory space on your TV.

Press the Home button to open up the TV’s Home screen menu. Navigate to select APPS, and then select the Settings icon in the top right corner. Next, select the app you want to delete. Finally, Select Delete, and select Delete again to confirm.
